Quite a weak plot and flat characters. Even in present time.when the heroine is supposed to be be all confident, she lost certainly isn't! The flashbacks were quite boring and didn't feel added much to the story. Overall tho, it was an average read.

This entertaining story goes out to all the women who had an unrequited crush on an older boy when they were in high school. I include myself in that illustrious group.

17-year-old Lauren has a massive crush on Beau, a law student renting out her parents’ pool house. Obviously, she’s too young for him—jail bait and all—but she’s not yet mature enough to navigate her tidal wave of emotions. As if being socially awkward isn’t enough, Lauren is also a late bloomer. Every moment of embarrassment and frustration she experiences is simultaneously funny and cringe worthy. It’s all very reminiscent of a John Hughes film, and I mean that in a good 16 Candles way.

When they meet up again a decade later, the attraction between them is strong and it’s no longer pervy for Beau to pursue Lauren. It’s a little silly that Lauren could hold a grudge against him for so long, but I really enjoyed seeing how their relationship progresses once they are on equal footing.

I love a slow burn romance because it feels more real and builds anticipation. This one is almost too slow for me, though. Is it too much to ask to get a little somethin’ somethin’ by the halfway point? However, I loved them together as a couple, and I liked that they have similar views about family and social status, as well as a shared devotion to their hometown of New Orleans. I especially appreciated how supportive Beau is of Lauren’s dreams.

The Beau and the Belle was a relaxing weekend read, and I’m looking forward to reading even more romantic comedies by R.S. Grey.

HELLO AMAZING PEOPLE OF GOODREADS!

Yes, I'm blasting your feeds with my reviews, comments, and literally everything else that I do. Deal with it. I was so lazy, sick, and tired so I couldn't write my damn reviews until right now. This very second. I seriously came home, opened my laptop, sat my ass on a chair, and starting typing out these things. I'm hoping I can get them all out of the way but who the heck knows - not me that's for sure!

The Beau & The Belle was a pretty cute book. Adorable even. It was a dual POV from Lauren and Beau. Now I freaking loved Beau's point of view and I sort of liked Lauren's (sometimes).

Okay I need to admit something. Lauren had her funny moments - especially when she had a conversation with Beau or within her own head. Then there are her endless comparisons. The whole "love triangle" between her, Beau, and ugh Preston.

Now I didn't really care for Preston because I mean the guy was compared to the tea cup ride at a theme park. WHERAS Beau was compared to the tower of terror. Which one would you choose?

The god damn tower people, every damn time.

Then she kept over analyzing things and I'm just trying not to throw my kindle at the wall because I was frustrated for the both of them. I probably screamed at Lauren to make up her damn mind and just sleep with the guy. Admit you love him and vice versa.

HOT DAMN PEOPLE!

In the end, I got what I wanted. HOWEVER, I wanted more. Like an epilogue or something. I was disappointed when I didn't get that but I guess I will have to accept the ending of this book.

Overall, I liked the book. I laughed, cringed, rolled my eyes, and swooned. I wanted more but I still ended up liking the book and the characters. I love R.S. Grey and I can't wait for more books to fall in love with!

I was very skeptical about the age difference when I read the description for this book. While intriguing, I was honestly like "REALLY DUDE" cause of him being that old and her being so young. I thought something was going to happen between them and that would've turned me away from this book. Overall, I honestly loved it! The whole book had me intrigued. I told myself that I was going to read one chapter and then get stuff done. 165 pages later and I was already at part 2. I loved everything about the book and how they interacted with each other. I love that even though she grew up, she still felt shy and insecure around him. I just loved them! I love how their parents loved it too. What didn't I love? The ending!!! I honestly flipped to the table of contents when I finished because I was looking for more chapters. Like what, it's over? It ended abruptly to me. I liked the ending and how he mentioned stuff that he never forgot about their past, but I feel like the whole book was slow and steady and then the ending was like 100 mi/hr. This definitely would've been a five star if it wasn't for that.

I should not have reread it. This one's on me. From 4 stars to 3 stars. After the shitty day I had been having, I wanted to go for an old favourite and that may have affected my decision but I have sitting on this for some time now. Very well, it is what it is.

Beau is 24 and in grad school at Tulane when he rents an apartment in the Garden District from the LeBlanc’s.

Lauren is 17 when Beau moves into her parent’s backyard apartment. She has a crush on Preston, who goes to a boy’s school. But that doesn’t stop her from getting an enormous crush on her new neighbor Beau.

They are separated due to Hurricane Katrina and ten years later they are back in the same town.

The start of the book with Lauren’s teen years were my favorite. She was so cute. She was a awkward teen, not “awkward” like wears glasses and likes unpopular but actually cool bands. She’s awkward and Beau sees her in all her awkward glory.

The story gets less funny during the present timeline. Lauren is supposed to be mature, but she loses all dignity when it comes to Beau.

So this book was tricky. It starts in the past, when Lauren is 17 and develops a crush on Beau, the 24-year-old law student renting an apartment from her parents. I could relate to this because what teenager hasn't had an embarrassing crush on an older guy? (Todd, if you're out there somewhere, sorry for being such a creeper back in the day!)

In the "past" portion of the book, Lauren's infatuation was seemingly one-sided. Beau never gave her any reason to believe he was into her, even when she literally throws herself at him. This is a good thing obviously because I'm not here for an adult dating a junior in high school. Then they're separated by a major event and we jump 10 years ahead. This is where I felt a disconnect in the story. There's really no build up when they meet again. We're just supposed to believe that they have been pining after each other for 10 years and then after a few weeks they're in love. Nope. I needed something more there.

When I found out that this book was set in New Orleans I got incredibly excited. Growing up in Louisiana, you can’t not have a special place in your heart for NOLA. Grey delivered again! She wove the vibrancy of New Orleans into her story and gave us characters I was dying to keep reading. Lauren was, well, hilarious. She’s the type of girl that anyone can relate to and her awkward moments had me remembering mine. I got a few crazy looks when I started giggle snorting at parts of this book. And Beau, well let’s just say he can be my beau anyway. *cringes at my bad joke*

The Beau & The Belle was a sweet, hilarious romance and I’ll definitely be adding it to my favorites pile!

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review

I have never read anything by R.S. Grey before but I have seen so many people rave about her books. So when I saw that it was an opportunity for a book ARC I knew I had to try to get me one. I am so glad that I did!

I didn’t want this book to end! I loved Beau and Lauren so much. You could feel their chemistry through the pages!

I thought Lauren was such a great heroine. She was hilarious, especially young Lauren. She was relatable! Who didn't have thoughts and actions like that while being a teenager?

Beau was HOT! He knew what he wanted and he didn't beat around the bush with Lauren about his feeling or intentions towards her. Gotta love a man like that!

I thought I might have had to whoop a certain character's ass but that got resolved. Thank the heavens!

The only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars was because the ending felt like it was missing something.

All in all, this will not be my last book from R.S. Grey and I loved it!
