I think this book had a really exciting premise with a ton of potential but it fell a little short for me. Overall I still really enjoyed the book but there were a couple things that just kind of knocked it down a star for me.

The Neverworld scenes were some of my favorite but they dragged on a bit too long for my taste. There are only so many altercations with ogres you can have before you're ready to just get to the next part of the story.

The slow burn romance between Callum and Elora was really nice but there was a little too much self-reflection for my taste. Like we get it, you are into each other but you don't want to be. Either accept it and get together or move past it.

I also feel like the world building left a bit to be desired. It was less world building and more just like BAM in your face, there's another world but we aren't going to actually explain any of it so you have to piece it together as you go along and that can be a little confusing.

The mystery and cliffhanger at the end was a bit anticlimactic since it was alluded to throughout the book but I still enjoyed it enough to want to continue the series.

Unraveling a big mystery

Such a good slow burn! Elora and Callum are the definition of enemies to lovers. They secretly pine over each while hating themselves for it. The entire community give me the same vibe as the movie The Village, but more modern. There definitely something going on, but it feels like the more you read the more questions you have. Elora and Callum have major chemistry and you just want them to give it. Can't wait for the next book because I need answers!!

This is the beginning of a great series, I know it. Enemies to lovers, so many secrets, a different world to find a precious resource, and so much more.

Callum & Elora have been raised one way, to hate the other, they are superior to everyone else in Paradise Falls. What cost does that bring tho? What awaits them in Neverwood?

I loved everything about this one, the suspense, the steam that is building, and the mystery of what REALLY happened. I can't wait to get my hands on Book 2!.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
