I am absolutely baffled by the low ratings this book has received, but from looking at a few of them, it seems a lot of them are students who hated reading this book for a class.
This may have just been a "right book at the right time" scenario, and at other times in my life I probably wouldn't have rated this 5 stars. However, I absolutely speed through this book in two days. I would call it a thriller for people who don't really like modern thrillers. The difficult decisions faced by the characters and the true historical context of the novel left me fascinated. Will be looking for more Brian Moore.

Bindt er geen doekjes om, as they say it in Dutch. Damn. https://recenseernogeenkeer.wordpress.com/2017/10/23/lies-of-silence/
