A perfect first biography to pair with Potter's famous tales. The details are delicious; the watercolor illustrations are lovely. The author manages to convey a little of the loneliness of Potter's life in a matter-of-fact way that's perfect for the young audience.

Beautiful biography of a famous children’s author and how she got her start. Simple sentences and detailed art make this a perfect book for young readers.

This was a sweet introduction to Beatrice Potter's life. It focuses on her childhood experiences and the early inspiration for one of her most-loved characters. This book would be perfect for budding artists and storytellers, especially little ones.

Though it isn't intended for the big kid crowd, I used it as part of a quick artist study with my 13 year old. We read this book alongside The Tale of Peter Rabbit, then watched the movie Miss Potter to finish our study.

If I was introducing Beatrice Potter's life to a young or particularly sensitive child, we would skip the movie and stick with this book. It gives just enough detail to link her childhood experiences to her adult work, without all the sad stuff that she endured later in life.

Sweet watercolor illustrations help bring to life this wonderful biography of Beatrix Potter. Perfect to read aloud for younger readers, but older children will be able to appreciate her story as well.

Charming watercolor paintings, similar in style to Potter's herself, illustrate the story of Beatrix Potter as a child, loving the countryside and her pets, and painting everywhere. She wrote the Tale of Peter Rabbit as an illustrated letter to a sick child; his mother told her to get it published. No sources given, so not a biography in my definition, but a cute picture book based on a real person.

I actually haven't read any Beatrix Potter yet (horrors!), but this book made me want to pick some of her stories up.

Lovely simple biography, the illustrations are fittingly old fashioned and the text is brief but has impact.

Nicely illustrated, although not my favorite style. A sweet introduction to Beatrix Potter, but no back matter. In short, I liked it, but it didn't inflame me with inspiration.
