Loved this book, really well written.

CW ... serious assault of a gay person in this book.

So many metaphors throughout the book of not fitting in and the cruelty of the World around us. I would have given this a five star except there is a brutal physical assault of the main character without any resolution, which, HELLO ... GAY TROPE ALERT ... this is 2022 !!! I need a resolution of some sorts.

Otherwise it's a nice story of a slowly building romance. The story reminded me a little of the Netflix series Sweet Tooth.

All-in-all, worth a read. Aimed at Adults. Available in all Irish Libraries.

Although the idea of a boy with a bird in his chest is a fanciful idea, it works to illustrate the struggle of a boy who knows he is different in an unaccepting world.
