I hate rating memoirs, because even though T Kira Madden and I have maybe nothing at all in common, her experiences are valid and she can choose to write about them if she wants to. Unfortunately, this memoir (/collection of essays?) did not work for me. It felt so meandering and a lot of the essays were so disconnected from each other (and the title essay). There were very few I enjoyed, unfortunately.

i couldnt get past the first like 60 pages of this book because the tone and sentence structure were so annoying. another young person writing a memoir in this everything-is-nostalgic-and-the-world-is-hard-but-im-privileged-so-actually-life-is-good-and-perfect-for-ME voice that i LITERALLY CANNOT STANDDDDD omfg. idk how to articulate this better but it’s a hard pass from me
