Much better writing than the junior novelization of the first film! However, I would still argue that this is NOT a true “junior” novelization as there’s some minor swearing, serious brutality, and plenty of horror elements (pretty much just as they appear in the film). If you would be comfortable with your child/teen seeing the movie, then this book would be fine, otherwise you might want to wait until they’re a bit older. Overall, the book is a scene-for-scene retelling of the film, with some additional information that I would guess was part of the original script, but cut from the final film due to time constraints.

“Another man suddenly appeared at the door. Unlike the men in red turbans, he wore all black with a black cape around his shoulders. His face was handsome, carved by desert winds. All three henchmen gasped at once. “Medjai!” 5 stars. Although be warned, there’s a weird scalping subplot not in the film thank god. 4 stars.
