I keep on thinking as I pick up another volume "after this one I'll give up" and then they leave me with a cliffhanger and I need to know more. In still thoroughly confused but I want to find out more.

I didn't know I needed any backstory on the Recurrence - and I tend not to like backstory because 90% of the time it just bogs down a perfectly good story with the author's worldbuilding notes which usually isn't that interesting.

This worked though. It actually made sense and raised the stakes for the finale and I loved it.

Way better than volume 6. From reading other people's reviews of vol. 6 on goodreads, it seems that I am not alone in this opinion. Vol. 7 seems to have a much stronger plotline whereas vol. 6 was hard for me to get into. I am curious to see where this series about young gods ends up.
