This is a book of varied short stories. From an ex-serviceman down on his luck, a cat that wins the affections of a family, to an excerpt describing smugglers of Olde England, the tales are varied and well-written. Some stories are very short and conclude too abruptly; I'd have preferred a more rounded ending, however I enjoyed them on the whole, not least because of the easy-flowing writing style of the author.
