A fun retelling of The Little Red Hen. The illustrations were interesting, but could sometimes be a bit overwhelming. Monarch 2020 nominee.

I love so many things about this book. Girls building things (I, too, am a girl who builds things) plus mom helping her, a more inclusive update to Little Red Hen, and so many great details. The super bold illustrations make this book even more inviting. A seriously wonderful Girl Power book. Can't wait to try this in a storytime!

Any educator will instantly recognize this transformative use of The Little Red Hen folktale. I appreciate that the author did not explicitly state that her brothers were rude to her because she was a girl. Because this isn't stated, we can surmise that they wouldn't help because they were lazy. It puts their lack of action on them and doesn't deflect their laziness with an excuse.

The illustrations were fun, colorful and loveable. I predict this is a class read-aloud that will be used over and over again.

Love this story! Girl power, a family that is representative of many of my students' families, and a message about being helpful. Such a cute book!

This book would be a good story for younget elementary school students. It is about a little girl who builds a fort and none of her friends want to help her. It is a take on The Littl Red Hen. I never knew how many versions of the Little Red Hen existed until reading the Author's Note in this book. It would be fun to read several versions with your students and discuss the similarities and differences of the stories.

Cute contemporary reimagining of The Little Red Hen, but this one ends with cookies and happy siblings.
