This had me on the edge for almost its entirety (in spite of the lackluster writing)... but the ending was blah. It’s no fun to feel that - in my mind - there was another more interesting choice for an ending, right at the writer’s hands, and he missed it entirely. What’s more is that the main characters never found out the “mystery” of the book... which puts the reader in a strange place of knowing but unable to share that ending with the heroes.

Some good mindless fun. Fell a little short of the promises about how philosophical it was. Really was just a spy thriller. Also thought the dialogue was a little cheesy and some of the situations were a bit unrealistic. The fact that the authorities are never involved even once in all the shit that goes down stretches my suspension of disbelief, but the author has experience in this area, so maybe that aspect is realistic after all.

The plot had so much potential but the author took it towards a murder mystery instead of really exploring the far reaching implications, ethical dilemmas and morality of immortality. Also, I get insulted with books that find it necessary for the male and female "hero's" to have to hook up. Leave it for the romance novels. Writing and dialog was fine. Just needed more out of the plot.

This is my first Tigner book and I really enjoyed it. I loved the thought experiment that we're presented with at the beginning and how the characters handled the decision. I can't go into it too much, but this has plenty of mystery as well as plenty of intrigue and I enjoyed it a lot. I'll definitely be reading more from this author.

This story had an interesting premise. There were a lot of characters to keep track of but the author threw in a little hint to help keep it straight. Some of the character’s actions seemed hard to believe but I enjoyed the story anyway.

I have mixed emotions, I liked it; yet I wanted a lot more from this book. I wanted LOTS more about the characters, I think there could have been tons of great details in this book. The storyline was creative and different which is why I think I was looking for more. Curious for the second book in this series.

The premise is fascinating, but the execution was lackluster. The characters were stereotypical and lacked any real depth. If you don't make me care about the characters, then I won't care what happens to them. It's not the worst thing I've read, but far from the best. It's an action book pared down to cookie cutter delivery. An easy read that you don't have to invest in, but also a book that'll be easily and quickly forgotten.

The book had an interesting central conceit that, although was handled solidly, left a feeling of wasted opportunity. More complex intertwining of the timelines would have improved the book but the ending was solid and avoided the over used tropes.

February book club pick. This one was a slow start for me but once I got about 100 pages in- I had fun with it. It had an awesome And Then There Were None vibe. A classic fast paced and exciting murder mystery. I wish the characters had been developed a bit more & I felt the ending was a bit rushed, but all around an enjoyable read.
