Caught Looking is the third installment of Tara Wyatt’s Dallas Longhorns series. It’s a delightful continuation of said series, and features Abby, one of the Longhorns’ coaches.

Abby Gossman is the first female coach in the MLB, and is hyper aware of the spotlight that puts on her. She’s sacrificed everything for this opportunity, and is reluctant to let anything stand in her way. When she starts dating Jake Landon, a baseball player from another team, she insists on keeping things a secret. But her plans are thwarted when Jake is traded to her team. Abby knows that their relationship has to end… but ending things with the man that she loves will be harder than she realizes.

I thoroughly enjoyed the chemistry between Abby and Jake, as well as the push-pull dynamic that they shared; however, I think that the back-and-forth got to be a little overwrought in places. While the conflict was valid, I had a difficult time accepting the idea that the two couldn’t be together, though I thought that Jake’s attitude and response to what Abby needed was refreshing and respectful. It’s always nice to read a hero that isn’t wholly self-oriented and who makes sacrifices for the heroine. And I also loved the portrayal of Dylan and Hunter in this story. It was a fun inclusion that makes me want to read the whole series again.

Fans of this series won’t be disappointed. And I’m already excited to read Javi’s story in book four.

An ARC was generously provided in exchange for my honest review.

Love in the Yard

Fantastic! From the beginning, there was something special between Jake and Abby but when they find themselves on the same team, they are forced apart. It's completely heartbreaking (yes, the tears streaming kind) and something they each struggle with but they believe it's the right decision career-wise. From there, the rollercoaster ride picks up lots of speed. When the truth comes out, hard decisions have to be made.

These two are hotter than ghost peppers when they're together.

I read the first in this series, but I liked this one better! My only issues is the third person pov.

This is a female coach x an mlb player on her team. I feel like we missed out on a bit of the couple’s romance because the story starts out with them already being together but the hero gets traded to her team. They break up for a spell but not really.

Overall, a food forbidden romance. I recommend the audio for those of us that don’t love third person pov!

This is a forbidden romance between player and coach. Abby is the first female mlb coach and has been secretly dating veteran catcher Jake while he played for another team. All that changes when he gets traded and he’s now her player. Rules say they can’t be together but the heart wants what the heart wants but at what cost?

Loved Abby and Jake together. They are good for each other and their chemistry is great. They had tough choices to make and handled them maturely even if it wasn’t what they wanted. Jake found a way to make sure everyone got what they wanted after a motivating pep talk from Dylan and Hunter.

Sexy sports romance, Caught Looking will hook you until the end. I love the detail that went into the story. Well being a quick is read, the story showed a lot of thought and planning. I’m slowly becoming addicted to baseball through Tara White’s writing.

3.5 STARS

There were a lot of things to love about this story! The female lead is amazing, having played softball her entire life, winning an Olympic medal, and then getting a job as the MLB's first female coach. I loved this aspect of her story and the very real struggles she faced as a woman in a man's world. Her family dynamic was interesting and I liked that it actually played an important role in her feelings about her career and what she can compromise for love.

When her boyfriend, a MLB Catcher, gets traded to her team she faces a problem since dating within the team is off limits, even though their relationship existed before the trade. This story is so well written because you can see why she can't choose love, even as you are DYING for her to choose love. These are complex decisions that are not easy!

The reason it only got 3.5 stars from me is that actual meat of this story was fairly repetitive. It's a lot of the same scenario running over and over again, until there is finally a hitch. The resolution is also so obvious that you see it coming long before it does. These are not deal-breakers, but this book didn't quite do it for me like the others in the series.

These two have seriously hot, NC-17 rated, steamy scenes! So prepare for your Kindle to burst into flames. You've been warned...in the best way possible.

OMG, THIS SERIES. I still am not a fan of baseball, but of the Dallas Longhorns baseball romance series? Hell, yeah, I am!

Jake and Abby's story has it all--a forbidden romance; a strong female lead who's also a trailblazer in her professional life; a hero who respects her and her position at work, never expecting her to choose him over her job, because he knows what she's done to get there and how much it means to her; and an epic romance for the ages. Seriously--these two. (insert happy sigh here)

If competence p0rn is your thing, then Abby is the heroine for you. Her love of the game and clear knowledge of her job is only one of the things that drew Jake to her originally, and that respect only increased when he was traded to her team and saw her in action--even as it meant their relationship had to end.

Or did it...? Will Abby have to choose between her job and Jake after all? Or will that choice be made for her? You're going to have to read Caught Looking to find out for yourself, because I'm not going to ruin that pleasure for you ;)

This is the third book in the series, and it really could work as a standalone--but why do that to yourself? Read the first two too, because you'll appreciate the advice Dylan and Hunter give Jake in this one all the more knowing exactly what they went through to gain their wisdom. Plus you'll be that much more primed to read the next book, having seen so many examples of just how delicious the next book promises to be...

In other words, bring on Javi and Aerin's story. I AM SO READY!

(Though, can I admit that my heart beat just a little bit faster when Jake pulled Abby into the storage closet at the auction to have his wicked way with her? The shelves inside were stacked with TOILET PAPER! It was all I could do not to squeal, "Oh! Grab me some, please!" Surely I'm not the only one? ;) )

Rating: 4 1/2 stars / A
