Sometimes you read the synopsis for a book and are not really sure if the book is something for you or not. In this case, I thought at first that the book would not be my thing. Mostly because the synopsis didn't give me enough information to get a feel for what kind of story this was gonna be. However, I eventually let a friend of mine convince me to accept the arc I was offered and I was quite curious to see how this would turn out. Would I have regretted it if I had not taken it?

I would have so regretted it if I had not read this book! Maybe it didn't sound like my thing, but it absolutely totally completely was my thing. Mostly because the book really gave me the chance to get to know all the characters, to fall in love with them and to grow attached to them. I like how all main characters were introduced one by one, which helped me to tell them apart and to get an idea of their personality without them becoming one blur of a big group.

Not that I think it would have happened anyway, the characters were simply written too well. They were all layered, complicated and they all clearly had their own issues, their own history and their own challenges. Since we got chapters from both our heroine and her heroes we get to experience the story and certain scenes from different points of view and although some characters spoke to me more than others, I eventually liked them all!

Although the characters and them getting to know each other and growing closer was the main focus of the story, there was also loads of mythology and especially towards the end there was also a lot of politics. Everything was really well thought out and I loved all the different supernaturals, their different needs and the conflicts between them. Especially the finale was amazing and really well built up! I can't wait to get and read the next book!
