I loved this book. This is my favorite book in the series so far. I love that she finally lets go of Mathias. I hope that her and Hysan get together. I hope that Lord Neith is alright and that if Hysan does have to destroy him, that it doesn't leave a terrible imprint on him. I hope that Rho can find the master and also hope that she is able to find Nishi again. I hated how her brother died in the end of the book.

Initial thoughts: Wow, what a shocking ending, such betrayal! Rho's feelings for others really develop as she starts to realise who she is destined to be.
————————————
Wandering Star Rhoma Grace continues to travel around the Zodiac searching for the master. She journeys to House Aquarius in her quest to find her mother and support her best friend Nishi, a member of the newly formed Tomorrow Party which promises freedom from the twelve seperate lifestyles.

"In order to change, we must relinquish control; we must momentarily lose ourselves."

Change is a huge part of Black Moon and I love how Romina Russell conveys each character's feelings throughout this process. A lot of personal and political issues are brought to the center stage. A resolution which I kind of saw happening occurred and though I wasn't too surprised, I was sad the past finally ended. Nishi's feelings are a small subplot, a little interlude which strengthens Rho's resolve.

"If you can imagine something, it can be done."

As always Rho's dreams are a huge part of the book, but in this novel Rho truly begins to search for her true self, the woman she is destined to be. She questions the facts and thinks for herself, acknowledging her fears but not letting herself be paralysed by them. Kassandra is a further representation of how different stories can lead to a whole new lifestyle.

"We create our own darkness."

Black Moon tells of the positive and negative sides of Zodiac. The master's identity is revealed, a shock to all, one unsuspected individual who had every reason to be the master, but wasn't discovered. The clues are there, you just have to read into them a little more deeply than I did. The ending shows us inner darkness and the utter heartlessness of some characters, people who may truly have no conscience and are irreversibly evil. This book will make you question everything you believe is set in stone.

I liked the flow of the novel . . . The Zodiac guardians believed peace was finally achieved, but . . . Rho and her friends know the Master is still out there.

There are a lot of themes in this arc than in the previous two novels. Even though Rho was a bit irritating in the first two books - I finally connected to her as a character.

All of them are broken - and none of them . . . was the same after what had happened. Rho lets Mathias down as she realises what she felt was nothing but a memory. Mathias still jumps if she snaps her fingers (yes, he shouldn't), which showcases the deep bond of friendship he and Rho share.

Hysan - on-the-other hand - brings out another part of her that she fears. He changed the norm and made her see; how things could/should be different. He is still a mysterious character with his flaws and the secrets he has to keep.

Rho's best friend Nishi gets taken after she discovers a political party wasn't as it seems. (Of course, they fought about it) Nishi was dealing with grief in a way that wasn't healthy.

The Master gets unmasked and throws her whole orbit into chaos. Stan dies - and Rho's mind just seized functioning, and everything that has happened becomes too much for her to handle. Something inside her just broke - switching off all logic and emotions.

Overall, I enjoyed the addition to the Zodiac series.
