Dumb Witness

Agatha Christie

I know there are a few pacing issues and that the clues aren't all particularly fair (
was I supposed to just know about phosphorus poisoning lol? Really cool plot device regardless...
) but I can subjectively ignore that because I adored the setting, I love Poirot and Hastings quarelling and because Agatha Christie's books are just such comfort books in general.
However, I'm not too sure how to feel about the ending -
first of all a woman faking domestic abuse is not a plot point I'm comfortable with since there are so many femicides and cases of violence against women - I just hate that some readers will inevitably take this to undermine any such accusations a woman in their life might make... Apart from that: did Poirot just drive someone to commit suicide 😭 I guess it makes sense, as he had been musing about the legality of his actions a few times before, but I just did NOT see that coming at all lmao

I also have to point out the xenophobia/racism against the poor greek guy! It's a ,,stuck-in-it's-time-element" for sure, but I was still rolling my eyes at all the unwarranted comments (even when describing the children TT).

Another great solve. Another great Christie book. This time we have Poirot´s Watson in the mix, I absolutely adore every Poirot/Hastings interaction. The second half of the story is truly page-turner.

Another dramatisation, well-executed.

These BBC full-cast dramatisations are going to spoil me for other audio dramas.
