If I have enjoyed a completed series I often find myself hoping for more of the same set in the same world, especially if it follows characters you have enjoyed in the previous books. Unfortunately sometimes it just does not work and for me this book is one of those.

The plot is based on the aftermath from the first series, which I was excited ead about, unfortunately there was bar one or two minor roles a whole new cast introduced, a new stronger antagonist with his disciples (which seemed unnecessary for me) and some questionable decision making by both the antagonists and protagonists.

The world is the same as the initial series and I certainly would not attempt to read this book without first having read the prior books.

The new characters were quite bland and had none of the development favoured previously. The writing was often too detailed and then sometimes not detailed enough with dialogue that was sometimes so unrealistic I found it annoying.

Although far inferior to the first series I still enjoyed the book and will continue with the next one in the hope that some of the previous characters may well reappear.
