There is nothing redeeming about this book. It’s slow, boring, self-indulgent, bleak, and disgusting.

There’s enough unpleasantness in the world - why even create a book like this? Like, what’s the point? To gross people out? To make them feel awful?

The writing itself is poor with oddly constructed sentences, heaps of filler, clunky grammar, and abhorrent pacing issues. The characters were all awful and have no characterization whatsoever.

To summarize, the first 150 pages are pure self-indulgent, navel-gazey waffle (who writes fiction about themselves? This guy apparently.) The remaining pages are entirely disgusting.
There’s nothing spooky about this book, it’s not atmospheric, it’s just gross. Ugh.
