This is perfect for fans of Bone and Amulet. If you're looking for something magical and exciting, Lost Boy is a must read. Emotionally captivating images paired with witty dialogue make this a great story. It was a bit difficult to get into in the beginning, but once I was hooked there was no turning back. Highly recommended.

Absolutely amazing artwork! It seems like the first in a series, and is a promising mystery-and fantasy-filled start.

Kid finds audio recordings and another world opens up to him.

I go back and forth about this one a lot. Some of the illustration work feels awkward, but some of it blows me away. There's a darkness to this story - feels quite like [b:Coraline|17061|Coraline|Neil Gaiman|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1327871014s/17061.jpg|2834844]. I never got a good sense of the characters, but so many of the creatures were awesome and cool. Creepy dolls, clothinged squirrels, crazy landscapes - fun and wild and slightly disturbing.

We shelve this in J, and that fits with the characters, but it's definitely on the dark side.

This was super hard to follow. I kept looking to see if I missed the first volume or something, but no. I think for some the art might be a saving grace, but this just isn't my style. I hardly ever give books a 1 star review, but this was truly painful.

the two stars are solely for the talented artwork, even though I often find realistic looking human characters in comics offputting. The story had promise, but just was not executed well. I kept feeling that I was reading a poor comic adaption of a novel, or I missed a previous book; things just happened with no logical flow, no character development, characters readily accepted fantastical developments with little to no surprise, deep relationships developed instantaneously between characters that just met...etc. I don't know man, did not dig it at all.
