This book is worth the read - it’s so short and Nabokov is such a good writer that it merits your time.

Though I enjoyed it, it seemed to me to lack a bit of force or something.

("Ero ormai diventato spettatore di me stesso.

"For I do not exist: there exist but the thousands of mirrors that reflect me. With every acquaintance I make, the population of phantoms resembling me increases. Somewhere they live, somewhere they multiply. I alone do not exist."

This is so fun and good. You can read it in a single sitting, but true Nabokov obsessives can pick out all the themes and motifs that'll reoccur in his later work.
