August 2022 Hoopla Bonus Borrows Recommendation

Aside from a few episodes of the 1980's cartoon and the old movie, idk much about My Little Pony. Especially not the modern MLP fanbase. Since this was a free borrow from Hoopla, I decided to give it a shot.

Overall this was really cute. It was easy to identify the different pony types, the hierarchy, who was who and what the overall themes were. For such a small short story this was packed with fun! There was adventure, friendship, and great pacing.

Loved this graphic novel. Will have to get the physical copy because she wanted to read it on her own time.

It all happened one day... when I was browsing NetGalley's new titles and I've seen this cute comic. As a huge fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic TV series, I just had to read this! It was exactly what I was looking for, maybe even better!

The drawings are incredibly cute, although a little bit different from how the ponies have been drawn in the actual show. The story really grabbed my attention from the very first pages and I couldn't wait to read the rest.
The wedding episode was my favourite one in the second season and I was thrilled to see more of the Changelings - they make awesome villains.

This comic about friendship and love is suited for all age groups, little children, as well as crazy people like me who are in love with the show. It also teaches patience, endurance, optimism and... what's most important... never giving up.
The dialogue is very well written. I actually read it in each pony's voice the entire time. I found myself laughing out loud every few pages.

You can't not love these amazing ponies, with their unique, different personalities, joined together by the magic of love.

P.S.: Pinkie Pie is by far my favourite character, with her random, cheerful personality.

This was fun to read, definitely the break I needed from the heavier stuff I've been reading. Even better, my son and I traded off, stealing the book from each other yesterday and today, and then I read him the last "issue" aloud with all three boys snuggled up with me on the couch. Such fun. Yay for ponies and my little tribe of Bronies.

Soo many pop culture references that made my inner child's favorite show very enjoyable in comic form. Really good art and spot on writing.

This is a fun engaging comic that is reminiscent of 80s and early 90s cartoons that were popular, both because of the adventure storyline and the type of humor. The art is good. All that said, this comic just isn't "my thing" (which isn't a criticism of the comic, which I think is very good). I found the combination of the art, bright colors, and text to be somewhat overstimulating. This is the type of story that I'd prefer to watch in cartoon form, or read an issue here and there, rather than consuming it in a trade paperback.
