Basically a young girl named Megumi goes missing, and Shiga, the man who may be her father begins a desperate search for her. Various cliches, sexist stereotypes, and one-dimensional characters meet in what is all just a set-up for Shiga to prove his mountain-climbing skills on a Tokyo skyscraper. A few climbing/journey/burden metahors are thrown in for good measure. Kind of interesting, but the whole thing was pretty predictable and ultimately not a very satisfying read at all.
