This was okay. The writing flowed fairly well, but I wasn't a huge fan of the characters. They were both pretty immature, and while Jessie wasn't too bad, Shawn was. I didn't really like him as a hero. I don't have to have over the top alpha millionaires, but I would like a H with a little bit of ambition and strength. I'm not sure that I loved them as a couple, but they do get their HEA in the end. This was a first for me from this author, but I would definitely read her again.

This book was just what I needed. Yes Shawn had similar issues to Frankie in Muffintop that I said weren't easy to believe, but it came across differently with Shawn. It wasn't this sudden realization that nobody saw him as the happily ever after guy while everything else in his life was peachy. Shawn's afraid he'll never succeed at anything so he's afraid to try, not just at relationships but jobs and just life in general. He knows how everyone else sees him and has known for years so he hides the fact he's craving more because he's afraid to hope he can be more than the mold that everyone has shoved him in. Its believable because it isn't a small trivial thing, it's a major fear and character flaw. His growth isn't immediate, it's gradual and hard earned and that's why its realistic and believable and while it's similar its definitely not the same.

Jessie doesn't even realize how broken she is until Shawn brings color into her life and it's kind of a delight to see her start to live even as she provides that steady interested presence Shawn needs in his life.

I didn't however care for Talia who is the connection between these characters and I didn't like how we didn't get to witness the characters fixing the fuckup their personal lives made of their professional ones. Those are pretty much the only reasons I didn't give this book a five stars because I truly enjoyed it.

Highly recommended.

The first thing that made me add this book to my TBR was the blurb, the second was the teaser, which was really hilarious.

The book itself was very easy to read, the chemistry was there since the beginning but it wasn’t one of those insta-love romances. Of course, once they got together the usual drama began – ”We can’t be together, you’re my best friend’s brother” and ”She won’t approve of us”. Spoiler alert: She didn’t.

I kind of hated Talia (Shawn’s sister) because when she found out because she was just so selfish. We’re talking ”How could you do that to me” and ”I thought you knew better”, she made Jessie looked so guilty even though she didn’t do nothing wrong. At least at the end, she admitted her mistake so Shawn and Jessie could be together.

4 stars.

Wrong Bed, Right Roommate was an enjoyable read. That had likeable characters, great chemistry, and a storyline that was not only sexy, charming, and entertaining. But well paced, easy to read and had the perfect amount of angst and sweetness to keep me engaged throughout. And rooting for Jessie and Shawn to get their happy ever after.

Would happily recommend!

What was THAT?! No, I ended up hating Jessie 2/3 of the way into the book. She was so weak! I don't want to drop spoilers, but how she handled the Talia/Shawn thing made me lose ALL nice thoughts about her. At that point the boon was over to me. Not only did she not have a backbone, but she was hypocritical. Nope, done.

Falling for your best friend’s sibling is one of my favorite romance tropes, which is why I couldn’t resist picking up Wrong Bed, Right Roommate. Rebecca Brooks has kicked off her Accidental Love series with a sexy forbidden romance.

I have the greatest affection for tightly-wound heroines and Jessie definitely fits the bill. She’s driven, obsessively organized, and determined to be successful now that she’s got her chance to get her foot in the door of New York publishing. Jessie does need to learn to loosen up a bit, and that’s where Shawn comes in. Shawn is Jessie’s opposite in most ways and I admit I had a harder time connecting with him. He has been selfish in the past and has treated the women in his life as fairly disposable, but he recognizes his behavior and is determined to turn his life around which I did like. Shawn also has a tendency to be so laid-back that he can be fairly irresponsible, to the point where I had trouble believing the ending of this story. I don’t want to say too much and spoil the book, but while there was some genuine growth in Shawn’s character, at times his progress didn’t feel earned. Perhaps a bit more time spent with him might have made him feel a bit more believable by the end.

Lust and close quarters are the kick Jessie and Shawn need to “break the rules” and fall into bed. Their romance was solid and there was some nice emotional development, but it felt a bit flat to me. There wasn’t anything particularly new or fresh about the romance to make it stand out, nor were the dialogue or the chemistry between the leads exciting enough to make me simply sit back and enjoy watching beloved tropes play out. I’ve adored Ms. Brooks’s books in the past and I know she can pack and emotional punch, but Jessie and Shawn just fell a bit short of the mark. All the elements were there and the story was good, but I did finish Wrong Bed, Right Roommate feeling like I wanted a bit more.

A sexy, standalone best friend’s older brother romance. This is the first book I have read from the author and I enjoyed the story. I am a sucker for this trope.

Jessie just landed her dream job and she is determined to be successful in it. Shawn, is the older brother of Jessie’s best friend, Talia. Talia is in London and she needs someone to sublet her room in the apartment she shares with Jessie, enter Shawn.

Their initial meeting was priceless, I mean he literally just crawled in to bed with her. These two are complete opposites of each other and they know they shouldn’t be together. The “Shawn Effect” wins again.

Though, this story was somewhat predictable it was still a fun, sweet, sexy read. Watching Jessie and Shawn’s relationship to grow was sweet. For anyone who is a fan of the best friends older brother romance this is definitely one to check out.
