Loved Bane’s and Jesse’s love. If you’re triggered by sexual assault, I wouldn’t recommend reading this book. Jesse’s main struggle is overcoming the trauma of being gang raped a year prior by her boyfriend at the time and his friends. She was also gaslighted by other adults in her life to downplay her experience.

It’s a hopeful book though and has a good ending so it’s a heartfelt story if you can push through.

It’s Okay

It took me 7 months to finish this book.
Mainly because

the rape topic was so sudden and very heavy, obviously, it took a while to start reading as well as continue reading. i don’t like the whole “boy saves girl” trope and there were too many plot twists that ended up complicating the storyline

despite the fact that this was really hard to read, i actually enjoyed this book the most out of this series. jesse's journey really made the whole novel, and it was really great to watch her come into herself and take control of her life.

I will say one thing: trigger warnings, anyone? this book needs MULTIPLE!! it was literally like a slap in the face, and by chapter four i was debating even continuing because of how graphic the descriptions were. so, fair warning to everyone, there is a MAJOR tw for sexual assault and pedophilia. and honestly, don't take this lightly and do your research before hand-- as i should have.
