This book is everything I wanted in a horror thriller. The use of magic-realism and unreliable narrators is amazing; and the plot twists are wild. This book is a dark, tense, fast-paced read that'll leave your skin crawling at some parts.

FIVE STARS. Holy shit. This book is certainly not for the squeamish or the faint of heart - the death scenes are gruesome and terrifying. But this book delivers such a masterfully crafted, complete arc about cycles of violence, it's worth it. Stephen Graham Jones richly portrays the inner lives of his characters with poignancy and humor, and  is unflinching in the face of the structural racism the Indigenous protagonists we follow deal with. The third act was spectacular. The audiobook is incredible - Shaun Taylor-Corbett did incredible narrative and voice work, and I love that this was an owned voices book from author to narrator. Best book I've read this year.
