While it may not be the best writing ever it really is a very moving and emotional story. Some parts are hard to read as you feel so much of the pain of the characters.

Predictable. Seemed a bit contrived.

I did enjoy reading this book, and as someone who did not know about the Bethnal Green disaster it is an interesting read. However, there is not a lot of depth to the characters, and other than Billy no real character development, there was also a lot of "fluff" that I'm not sure really added to the book. For a historical fiction book, there wasn't a huge amount of focus (other than the actual event) on any historical aspects, it very much read as a romance book.
