white girl discovers feminism on twitter: the novella
i enjoyed the portions of the book talking about the mother's childhood- excellently written, fascinating story. unfortunately, everytime the story returned to the author talking about herself, i found my eyes glazing over. there was a tone shift and a very in your face, spoonfed way of discussing basic concepts of patriarchy and feminism.
honestly, i think this is a great book for the straight white girl of the social media era. i see a lot of the author's sentiments towards herself, other women, and men reflected in many girls my age and it breaks my heart. i think this could be very eye opening for many girls and is a very valuable story. maybe not for me personally though. (the star wars metaphors made me cringe)

I really enjoyed this book. A beautiful mix of personal essay and family history. Will definitely recommend this book in the future.
