Decadent, dramatic, deceptively simple. Some of the femme fatale girl power imagery feels kinda stale and outdated now, although I can see how it had more of an impact at the time it was published.

I still liked it though, her writing style just sings and was a delight to read even though it wasnt saying anything super innovative (to me).

I'm sure these poems felt bold and revelatory when this book came out in 1994, but now they just seem like rejected Lilith Fair songs.

i can't rate this collection...most was okay but wtf is this lol?

"In that dizzy moment
did your peepee dangle
like a ripcord,
or is it true all men
have hard-ons
when they fall to earth?

And if so,
what is the good
of being close to heaven
if our souls have business with the angels
but our peepees
so much to do with earth."

Two thumbs down. The reviews did not give good insight for what to expect.

Feels good to read something I can connect to as a free thinking Latina Woman. It inspires me to keep writing.
