Growing up in Australia is becoming one of my favourite series to read. Everything is 5 stars so far and Growing up African in Australia is no exception. I feel this book and series needs and should be implemented into Australian schools.

Listening to these stories has been insightful. I always try my best to take something away from these books and one of the points that really stood out to me was that use of Australian African. It has picked up over the years and if now almost what everyone uses, which has slowly taken the individual country's identities away. Africa is a huge content with many cultures and differences.
We don't call people from Asian or Europe Australian Asian or Australian European, so it really sticks out that we do do it for Africans. I will not make the assumptions that everyone who is called this dislikes it, but instead I want to do my duty of referring to people in their preferred way.
For example I take stats of authors nationalities for my reading journal. Instead of putting down just Australian, British, or American, I look up the authors and do some research to see what nationalities they identify as and put that down. For this book, Maxine Beneba Clarke the editor, has been written as Australian Afro-Caribbean.

I highly recommend this series and the book to anyone and everyone, especially if you are Australian. I do think this is a worth wild read to see the world from other people's lives and to reflect on yourself.
