Really liked the first, I don't know 30% but then it got into the story and I just didn't like it. The last 10% though was awful. I looked at some of the reviews for the lady book and I think I'll do here and do my best to forget that all ending. I think ultimately, I got sick of the characters. They didn't really change; just kept beating the same drum. And I really hated the villains, which is just about everyone except for Noemi and Abel. I think again, the world building just isn't there. Like this is pretty fast into the future but there are still distinct races and cultures and languages? And somehow the technology on Genesis is compatible with the rest of the world's? And the new planet? Don't get me started. It just could have been so much more. It had great character. They just didn't shine as well in the sequel, sadly.

I love this series. Ugh.. what an ending though for book two. Definitely need to get book 3 now.

Okay, so not a surprise that after loving the first book as much as I did that I would also enjoy the second book. I will admit that part of me was afraid that the book would disappoint but for me, it didn't. There is more of a romance element in this book which probably increased my enjoyment regardless of the semi weird circumstances. Also, continuing with my preferred method of pretending that our female lead is older than she actually is probably helped as well.
Don't want to go into too much detail as I don't want to spoil the first book. But its pretty much a continuation of the story with different interesting space things that happen. I really enjoyed it and cant wait for the next one.
That being said, the age gap... is pretty weird when you think about it.. not a fan. But the unconventional nature of it, I guessss makes it okay.. Especially if you think about all those years trapped being part of re-birth experience... making them semi younger in experience ate least... I guess... Its kinda like if someone was in a stasis pod of some sort that slowed their aging and woke up 40 years later but still look and felt 20 years old.. are they 60? or are they 20 since they slept 40 years? I dunno. But I still would have liked her to be a little older..

It's been a while since I read the first book in this series and I was kinda afraid that not remembering all the details would take away from this story. However, there was little to be afraid of. Within the first few chapters slowly everything came back to me and since this felt like a different story arc of the same story I never felt like I missed out because I couldn't remember every little detail.
What I did remember is that the first book seemed to be a love story. And although this book is still about those two people and their love for each other, the focus is slowly moving to more of a bigger plot. There is a lot of politics in this book, we get to see a lot of new sci-fi developments in this book and we get to see the last little bit of the universe that people inhabit in this book. Let's say it all feels a little heavier on the sci-fi part. Which, by the way, is totally fine with me.
Because I personally think the politics is really interesting. Apart from the conflict between Earth and Genesis, we now also get to see more of the conflict among people living on the same planet, who should have been on the same side. We get to hear more stories and sides of the conflict and we're getting to see how far everyone is willing to go. I think that the high stakes are set for the last book, although the ending doesn't make clear where the focus of that last book will be.
However, I also really like the science in this book. I've been to med school for a couple of years (sadly couldn't finish because of my own health, the irony...) and everything that's been written and done here seems very realistic. Of course, it's not all going to happen within the next few years, but it sounds as if all of this can happen. One would say that it's a requirement for Sci-Fi, but trust me, I've read books that talk really nonsense because they think it's cool.
The book ended with a huge cliffhanger and with loads of loose ends. I'm really curious if everything will be tied up in the last book!

I didn't think I would get to this book as quickly as I did. I was unsure about this series in the begging because it had some interesting topics on the side. I found it to be alright though, I did enjoy the charaters. But at the same time there was a lot of things in this book that I did not like as well. And the things I didn't like overpowered the things I did like.

This is the natural continuation of the first book, in that it remained the same thoughtful story of love and courage. I love the characters even more now, which didn't seem possible, and I am dying to see what will happen even though I believe in them. It's just a Good Sequel.

This is so good! Abel is gorgeous, the moral questions continue to advance, the action and plot was better and more coherent in this one than the first. The return of old faces was enjoyable and to see their own developments and oh the power hungry, fear driven people in power who make terrible choices fill me with rage.
