Horribly written and I hate saying that but the characters sucked, the plot was easy to read and entertaining I read it very quickly, but it lacked substance and I didn't care. First book is not just a little better but ten times better than this.

Bloom was not the book for me. It had a strong intriguing start and I didn’t mind Frankie at the beginning, but I found her to be and unreliable FMC, and much of her was kind of whiny and frustrating. And she was so rude to poor Tom (this date dialogue was very tough to read as well).

As for Phantom… nothing about his disguise was appealing or attractive to me, so I had difficulty engaging with their relationship. I had high hopes / guesses for who the phantom would turn out to be and the direction the book would take and unfortunately was disappointed by how off I was.

All-in-all it had a lot of potential just fell really flat, and I wish I’d DNF’d. I would try something else by this author though.

Thanks Entangled and NetGalley for the arc to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

DNF (no rating) ARC via Netgally.

I hadn't read this author before and the series did not work for me.

Thank you to Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange of an honest review.

We start out this book with Frankie going to dinner with her sister, sister's boyfriend, and her parents. Her sister, Mandy, announces her engagement on Frankie's would be wedding day. Frankie leaves in a huff, her fiance cheated on her after 6 years together, and she ducks into a nearby bar. Enter the Phantom, like the musical, and sparks immediately fly. Throughout the book Frankie is introduced to the BDSM lifestyle, while writing an article for work, and falls in love.

I really did enjoy this book, and completely devoured it. It was easy reading, fast storyline. I have not read the first book in the series but didn't feel like I was missing anything. My main complaint is just that Hunter and Frankie both seemed a bit immature. Hunter just screaming about his privacy, the blow ups were very sudden and didn't have great reconciliation.

Overall 3.5 rounded up to 4 stars.

This was very fifty shades for me. But, a more mature adult version of it if that’s possible? I found myself wanting to DNF this multiple times. There really wasn’t a plot per say. The female MC, Frankie, made me more and more aggravated as I kept reading. And Phantom aka Hunter, gave me hard core Christian Grey vibes when it came to his private life. Idk. I would have enjoyed this more if there there was an actual plot and not so much fixation on the sex club. It all just seemed odd to me.

On the heels of her sister's engagement that happens to be announced on the very day she should have been walking down her own aisle, Frankie thinks that her love life is never going to get any better. Feeling sorry for herself, she finds herself drinking away her sorrows and ight in the sights of a man who calls himself The Phantom. With a disguise and a domineering personality, Frankie is taken on a wild ride and realizes just who she is and exactly what she wants in a man. Can the mystery turn into love? Or will the hype fall to pieces once his true identity is revealed? With characters that at times need to be hit upside the head and a storyline that will make you fall in love while at the same time want to scream at your kindle, this was a great read.

This was my first book by the author though I have heard great things about the other books in this series. The FMC (a main point of the story for me) was so unrelatable, self-obsessed and such a whiner. I respect her choices sometimes but other times, I just wanted to tell her to get over it. The MMC was so eerily similar to Christian Grey - that is really all I need to say... The book was hard to get into, particularly because I did not like the FMC from the first few pages, however, the spice was good and there were some dialogues and scenes that were written extremely well.

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of this book!
