In this delightful and surprising novel, the main character Annie Fisk navigates life with curiosity as her guiding force. The story unfolds against the backdrop of significant historical events—the development of the atomic bomb, which her father happens to be a part of, and the race to land the first man on the moon. The book starts in her childhood and examines a relationship with an inconstant imaginary friend. After high school, Annie heads to college in San Antonio, where she falls in love with Evelyn, a fellow student aspiring to be a painter. However, Annie pursues dreams over love and leaves Evelyn to pursue her dream of working for NASA in Houston. Her journey takes an unexpected turn when she discovers a wormhole and begins researching its implications with a colleague. The novel beautifully explores themes of love, loss, science, and the boundaries of the universe.

This is a gorgeous story full of heart, wit, and the search for belong both in the cosmos & in a community. I loved Annie Fisk and all the people who touched her life along the way.

Loved the writing, adored the characters. As someone who does not care about the space race and is not a girlie in STEM, the subject matter was simply not for me. Will definitely read future novels, as I love the author’s style.

If you are a fan of the Sci fi movies Interstellar and Arrival, and the book Lessons in Chemistry, then you'll find the value in this book. I read it in one sitting the week after I visited San Antonio (bought a signed copy at Nowhere Bookshop) and Houston (including the space center), so it resonated with me more than it might have otherwise. I'm a fan of the main character, and the chapters clearly note what time period they are set in as it jumps around a lot. The book won't be for everyone, but I loved my time with it.

Did not like the switching between times.
