This novel was exceptionally good. At times it had me confused but that did not set me off from reading the entire book. I loved how the setting and characters were described. I could clearly see that he author poured much heart and research into her story. The story takes place in New York. Prima Ballerina Sylvie broke her leg, lost her chance at ever dancing again, and is now getting sent to the antebellum South to re-cooperate. Her now step-father who is also a shrink believes she has some cobwebs to clear out of her mind. She is sent to Alabama where her father grew up to stay with a cousin. She finds out a lot about her ancestral past, her fathers childhood, and a lot about the supernatural. Ghosts, haunt the mansion and everyone around Blue Stone manor has their own secrets. Especially the gorgeous Rhys. Sylvie and Rhys have an immediate attraction but you can tell that they are not going to exercise their attraction so soon. Sylvie gets swept into family history drama and of course the whole town thinking that she and golden boy, Shawn, are going to get together. She knows there is something more to Shawn than just good looks and charm, he has a secret like everyone and Sylvie is willing to find out what that secret is but she will not let him cajole her into dating him or joining the prestigious, secretive Teen Town Council. I liked how this story incorporated a parallel between Sylvie and her distant relative Hannah. THe love triangle was a presumed storyline that was not dull and made the story more attractive to me. You could tell Rhys was always going to be the guy for Sylvie and Shawn's secrets involved dark magic and nothing more. Sylvie's story was good and I enjoyed this read.

I'm not even sure what to say about this book. The last 30 pages were pretty decent but I wish the set up for it would have been cut in half. Not a bad premise but pretty basic supernatural YA execution. Also, never thought that I would say this, I hated the dog.
