I thoroughly enjoyed Haunted on Bourbon Street by Deanna Chase. The details in the story were excellent, and I loved how each character had their little back story, giving it a well-rounded, complete look of the story. I liked Jade as the main character and didn't hate any of the characters. The thing that knocked it down from five to four stars for me is the mystery surrounding the ghost(s). Once Jade starts talking to Charlie about Pyper and Kane's past, it becomes obvious as to who is torturing Pyper. It was still interesting to read, but the mystery was gone for me.

A cosy supernatural Read. Of course with this being set in New Orleans it had to be Spooktacualar  in one way or another, I did  work out that the regular in the strip club was a ghost once I understood Jane's gift but didn't realise till later who it was.
Being similar in fuzziness to a cosy mystery  we have the toxic ex , the best friend who forfeit her  rights to bf status, the new team of friends and of course the hot love interest.  As it is a supernatural read and a mystery all rolled into one I can't give much away, but I will say this I now need to put the rest of this series on my tbr

Meh... it just wasn't for me. The story never really felt like it was flowing. It felt choppy to me. It was kind of off-putting.

Also, I get that Jade's 'gift' is kind of an invasion of privacy. But she literally cannot help it. Yes, she can build up barriers, but that takes effort and concentration and it drains her significantly. Kane's 'gift' is an invasion of privacy that, yes, at times he isn't in control of. But then he admitted to figuring out what was happening and not doing anything about it. And maybe if he'd just been there holding her, comforting her, protecting her? That I would've been fine with. But he...
SpoilerI mean, they had dream sex, people. He had sexy times with her in her dreams! In dreams that she thought were genuinely dreams, and not his actually consciousness joining with hers in sleep. Not cool!
. And I'm sorry, but even if he'd asked for consent in that realm, I still wouldn't be okay with it, because Jade wouldn't have actually understood what was going on.

Anyway, I would've been happier if he'd either stopped 'visiting' altogether, or continued to visit but only as a protector or a comforting presence.

I want to say that I do like Jade for the most part. Wasn't a big fan of Kat, but they managed to pull her around so I don't detest her anymore. The characters themselves, I really did like and enjoy. They're a great bunch of people, and I think if they were real, I'd really like to get to know them. But again, the story didn't flow smoothly enough for me. It felt choppy, and it just threw off the reading experience for me.

In summary, more a 2.5 than a 2. I won't be continuing this series, but I do think I'd like to try something else by this author. I've checked and some of her later books have higher ratings, so I think she's probably improved in her writing style since this one. It's a good cute read, and I don't feel like I've wasted my time here. I just... couldn't get into it or get as invested in it as I would've liked, so I will be leaving this series here. (Which is okay, because there's no cliffhanger ending, so if you want to end here, that's perfectly fine.

This was a cute fun Halloween read. When Jade moved into her new apartment, she didn't expect to inherit a ghost. What happened after her first ghost encounter was both amusing and chaotic. I liked most of this plot, and I think with a bit more fine tooth editing and structure, this could be adorable. Some of the character's behavior didn't make a lot of sense, and I felt a bit jumbled in the story. Overall, it was fun, and I read it quickly.

A fun start to a new series. A little drawn out, but I enjoyed it, and will be checking out the next in the series.

Very well written and interesting. I thought this was a great start to a series. Jade intrigued me from the very beginning, as she tries to deal with the ghost in her apartment, her gifts, and just drama and life in general.

Good supporting characters that are as intriguing as Jade. I like Kane, the leading male. Plenty of layers there. Pyper is one that i would love to read a book about her story.

Overall a good story, with twists, and enough suspense and romance to keep me entertained.
The only reaspn it didnt get five stars is becausr being only 253 pages, its a little rushed in some spots.
