honestly a very refreshing YA fantasy that doesn’t try to be more than it is — yes, it can be a little naive at times, but for a girlie who loves a consistent plot while perfectly connecting it to characters’ personalities, i enjoyed this. the romance is a subplot, but that wasn’t important since the characters can rely on themselves and the friendships and relationships formed are excellent. not to mention, the banter and comments from nathaniel are just funny (imagine if someone took the comic relief and made them the love interest) — i mean, stephanie garber liked this book, so i guess you can say that this book is in the same font as stephanie’s whimsical tales, but a completely different word with an entirely different meaning

It's ok. It' didn't bore me, but i wouldn't reread it or recommend it to a friend.

DNF. Can’t get into this book. I’ve somehow managed to put it down after every chapter so far and have no desire to complete the book. So I think it is not for me and it’s time to move on. So that’s what I’m going to do!
