Billy & Tanner. Small town romance. Tanner is a big ole football star and Billy is basically a nobody. Tanner comes home for the summer and can’t stay away from Billy. A real cute story

A beautiful feel-good love story
Football Sundae is the story of Billy Tucker and Tanner Strong. It is a feel good love story set in a small town called Spruce, where people are accepting of diversity.
Tanner is the local high school football hero who went away to college on a football scholarship. He returns home every summer to his parent’s ranch.
Billy is the wanna-be dessert chef left behind after high school to help in his parents diner, with plans to go to culinary school.
When Tanner returns for the summer all is not as it seems for him. When he and his mates walked in to the diner where Billy worked one day, it was the start of something wonderful, and the two forge a beautiful bond.
Daryl has a way of bringing you in to his character’s lives, and I feel like I know them. I felt their love as it developed, I felt their struggles. I was so invested in Billy and Tanner that when they first said “I Love You” (cos let’s face it, we knew they would right) I literally fist pumped the air.
As the blurb says, there is hot man on man action, and it’s hot enough to melt your ice-cream.
I will never be able to look at hot chocolate fudge again without thinking of Tanner and Billy, and of course that will be followed by a smile.
I wish the world was more like Spruce.
Another great story by Daryl Banner.

This is my first time reading Daryl Banner and it was a hit. Football Sundae is book 1 in the Spruce Texas series.

I picked this because I was looking to dive into another series set in my beloved home state of Texas. It’s so much fun to read characters and dynamics I recognize. This is perfect for lovers of low angst, small town, New Adult, opposites attract, and slightly OTT humor.

Tanner and Billy were just adorable. Separately and together. Most of the angst comes from Tanner not being out to anyone and admitting his attraction to Billy. Poor Billy doesn’t even know he’s being hit on. Such a sexy, fun, and sweet relationship develops.

Not only are these two a lot of fun, but the secondary characters are great. Especially Tanner’s friends. They may be kinda clueless and unintentionally insensitive but they’re trying and definitely supportive. I also love the way Banner handles Billy and Tanner being so close to their families while also trying to launch into their own lives.

Great HEA and sweet epilogue. I’m definitely looking forward to more of the series.

Really liked this sweeter than sweet story. Sometimes it’s lovely to read something where everyone gets a HEA and ‘the real world’ is told to shove it for a while. I want to live in the world this writer creates it’s so lovely and full of love.

5 feel-good stars

I had one reason for reading this book: it kept shooting to the top of gay romance reader's polls, and I kept wondering what this book I'd never heard of was like to have such devoted readers. Okay, two reasons, once I found out it has a big, muscle-bound football player who bottoms. *delighted shiver*

It didn't disappoint. There's a sweetness and innocence to this book that is just delightful (and I don't just mean the sweetness of all the desserts that Billy makes, though it DID make me pretty hungry to read all the descriptions!). Billy and Tanner, despite hiding their relationship from everyone for the majority of the book, are pretty much drama-free as they explore the newness of being together. And, inexperienced or not, they were seriously HOT together!!! The epilogue was a perfect way to wrap up the story and leave me satisfied. I will be rereading this someday.

**The two bonus short stories at the end were fun, too! I especially enjoyed the second one. I'll be checking out the rest of the Brazen Boys series.**

2.5 stars. I din't much care for anything that was going on, but I don't really have anything to complain about either.
