This review and many more can be found on my blog: Feed Your Fiction Addiction

Remember Yesterday picks up ten years after Forget Tomorrow left off and is told from Jessa’s POV. Jessa is now about the age that Callie had been when she sacrificed herself for her sister, and she’s trying to live up to that and make her life worth the sacrifice. Logan hasn’t been able to move on with his life since Callie died, either, and it seems that many of the characters in the book are living in the past in some ways. Jessa has never been able to forget what the scientists did to her all those years ago, and she wants to do anything she can to defy them. But she finds herself wrapped up with them in inexplicable ways and can’t quite find a way out that won’t destroy the people she loves.

What Fed My Addiction:

Jessa’s struggles to feel worthy.
One major element of the story is how Jessa struggles to feel worthy of Callie’s sacrifice. She goes through life feeling like she should not have been the one to survive—that Callie made the wrong choice. Everyone around her loved Callie, and Jessa feels like they only love her by extension, not for who she truly is. She feels like she has to somehow live up to Callie’s example and prove herself worthy, but she also feels like that’s an impossible task. Some of these themes are repeated with another character, but I feel like talking too much about that would be spoilerish, so I’ll just say that I felt a lot of empathy for both characters.

Twisty time travel.
I love time travel stories when they’re done right, and this is one of those cases where it’s definitely done right. We learned in the first book that Callie and Jessa’s father traveled through time and never returned when Callie was very young. Well, in this book, the time travel element comes into play even more, and there are lots of mind-bending ramifications. The time travel combined with the idea of “fate” or unchangeable events makes for a complex story, but it’s all told in a way that makes perfect sense. I loved some of the moments where characters realized how things “had” to play out.

The romance.
Jessa’s complicated feelings about herself and her past play into the romance and add extra complications. Because of this, the romantic connection moves at a perfect pace. Slow-burning enough to build tension and believability, but not so stuck that it’s frustrating. I LOVED the romantic interest and how his story unfolded. Won’t say more than that to avoid spoilers.

What Left Me Hungry for More:

Not much.
This is one of those books where I can’t think of much to say that’s negative. Anything I write here will be nitpicky. Sure there are a couple of cliché’s, but they’re cushioned between so much excitement and uniqueness that I can’t bring myself to complain about them.

I cannot wait to see what Dunn has in store for the next (final?) book in this series. The ending of this book set us up for a completely new direction in book three, and promises plenty more twists and turns! I give this installment 4.5/5 stars.

***Disclosure: I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley and Chapter by Chapter Blog Tours in exchange for an honest review. No other compensation was given and all opinions are my own.***

HOLY CRAP!!! I can't believe I have to wait a while for the final book in the trilogy :(

This was SUCH a great sequel and I LOVED reading from Jessa's perspective. This plot was so well intertwined with the first book's plot and I thought it was such a clever installment...can't even handle my feelings right now.

Advance copy was given for a blog tour hosted by Fay. This doesn't affect my review whatsoever.

I wasn't a fan at first because it reminds me greatly of Divergent but I loved how she wrote it and the way she executed her plot so I am giving it two thumbs up and 4/5 stars. review to follow on my blog.

Note: I recieved this as an eARC from Netgalley. This does not change my opinion of the book.

Guys, I want to say something before I write up my review: I’ve read all 3 of Pintip Dunn’s ARCs so far, and they were each amazing. This is the second book in her Forget Tomorrow series, and it was just as amazing as the first one! Honestly, knowing some of you guys, you’ll really enjoy her work. It has a unique feel to it that is way underhyped!

Here is my review for Forget Tomorrow, book one of this series. Also, here’s my link for The Darkest Lie, a YA contemporary mystery/thriller that really deserves to be on more bookshelves!

I can’t get over the covers of this series!!

"Seventeen-year-old Jessa Stone is the most valuable citizen in Eden City. Her psychic abilities could lead to significant scientific discoveries -- if only she'd let TechRA study her. But after they kidnapped and experimented on her as a child, cooperating with the scientists is the last thing Jessa would do.

But when she discovers the past isn't what she assumed, Jessa must join forces with budding scientist Tanner Callahan to rectify a fatal mistake made ten years ago. She'll do anything to change her past -- even if it means aligning herself with the enemy she swore to defeat.”

THIS REVIEW WILL BE FULL OF SPOILERS FROM BOOK 1!!!

Ok so just know that the blurb doesn’t say much about the book - it was so much cooler than that!

So book one was all about Callie, and how she did everything in her power to both save her little sister, Jessa, and to prevent the invention of Future Memory, which she saw she would be a part of in the future. To do so, she injects poison into her heart, and thus dies.

Remember Yesterday is about Jessa, ten years later. Future memory doesn’t exist anymore, and some people who received their memories in the past still have them. However, the whole town remembers Callie and her sacrifice.

Jessa and Logan, Callies boyfriend, have an amazing relationship - in their mourning for Callie, they became almost like brother and sister - there for each other when they need to be. I really liked that!

One of the characters, Tanner, starts off as being portrayed as a really annoying and conceited guy, who only cares for himself. But there’s so much more to him! Even though he’s a scientist - someone seen as a villain in the society - he genuinely cares about knowledge, discovery, and helping Jessa.

Help Jessa? With what? In the book, there is a point in which she recieves a memory from someone who she believes is the Chairwoman’s daughter, the memory of a green and purple hallway. When she followes the ‘directions’ presented in the memory, she realizes that it wasn’t the chairwoman’s daughter sending the memories... but Callie.

This sends her and Tanner on a whole adventure, trying to bring Callie, who is stuck in a coma, back to life. The adventure is full of time travel, risks and hiding, rebels and scientific discoveries.

As a kid, Jessa was tortured and experimented on, because of her unique capabilities. This made her swear off any relation to any scientists, and gave her a profound hate for the Chairwoman, the villain of the story. Her main goal is to defeat her, to prevent the genocide Callie saw would happen.

I don’t want to say too much more because it’s hard to say much about the plot without spoiling, but now I can go onto other things.

THE FEEELLSSSSS! When you know what happens in the first book, just some thoughts of the characters, or what they say to each other, just makes you gasp in a wave of emotions that are either so super sweet or heartbreaking. Dunn really knows how to make people’s thoughts feel genuine.

Jessa was a good character, but not in the conventional sense. She’s stubborn and idealistic, slightly selfish and jealous. But she’s also determined and brave, and wants to ultimately do what is right. She always feels like people loved Callie more than her, and that “The wrong sister died”. It’s nice to have a main character who’s not perfect in every sense.

Tanner is highly misunderstood - even though he’s a scientist, he just wants to know how things work. He has a harsh, self-confident mask on him, that just Jessa manages to see through at times.

The one thing that I feel could have been worked on are the peak moments - sometimes, such as (highlight) when callie wakes up, I feel like the emotions that Jessa thought/felt were real enough, but the entire reaction of the crowd around her was cut somewhat short. There were quite a few parts like this in this novel. There were also a few loose ends, but I don’t mind that too much - it’s quite obvious that there’s going to be book 3, so they’ll hopefully come together then!

About that, I really need book 3! Like now! *-* And I need to find a way to get this series on my shelf, it’s amazing and beautiful!

I’m giving this a 4/5 feathers! Go give it a try!

I received this book in a Goodreads giveaway in exchange for a fair review, which I will give now.
After reading two books in this series, I am shocked that a novel can jump around time so much and still stay true it's original plot. While I was disappointed that this book was not more about Callie (to be perfectly honest, I find Jessa to be a little annoying) I liked how the author wove the stories together and made them mesh together well. I also like that she incorporated time travel without all of the annoying things it usual comes with ("one small action can change the world" and all that obnoxiousness). I'd say that this is a really good, easy read that captivates your mind without overburdening it. Good for fans of the Hunger Games or Divergent, although it's not quite as spectacular. Can't wait to start on Book 3!
