Horny adult-child Frankenstein battles ideology, social norms, masculinity and the patriarchy through (what I imagine looks like) LSD Victorian era Europe. 

Is it a true story or fiction? Regardless, a WILD read.

I enjoyed this one. It's a dry sort of comedy - more of a snort and chuckle vs. laugh out loud variety. It's full of fictional footnotes, which leaves you sort of distracted - but the footnotes are also helpful context for a lot of the book because a lot of the details is to be found there. Overall, this was different but compelling. A reworking of Frankenstein that doubles down on the question of who, in fact, is the monster in that story.

A few months ago, I saw a trailer for a very weird film at the cinema. At the time, I had no idea it was based on a book, but I found the audiobook of Poor Things on my @libby.app - it was slightly outside of my normal reading comfort zone but a really fascinating read. I'd recommend it if you're into historical fiction, feminism and thinking about autonomy, and weird vibes. Throughout I was thinking I was wondering if I'd missed something, Bella's story is about her developing her own autonomy, but is told almost entirely by a man, so the ending was very welcome to me (even if I'm now not sure what to believe!)
