Another really good and thrilling Eve Dallas mystery. She is an awesome character and those around her (Roarke, Peabody, Feeney) are pretty amazing too. I love Roarke and would steal him for myself if I could. I
Spoiler was suspicious of Reeanna from the beginning. Her theories at lunch about how a person is "programmed" to be a certain way just didn't sit right with me and I kept thinking of her as Eve investigated. This was a seriously messed up and smartly developed mystery.

The audiobook narration is awesome! I recommend it.

In Death Series Book #4

This is a reread through this series for me. Really like this series, a good mix for romance, relationships, suspense, and mystery. It's set in a futuristic NYC, a nice consistent world build with technological advances. Also some resource and legal differences, but this part is very subtle making it so it's not distracting to the rest.

I have heard this was initially a trilogy that turned into a series that is now up to over 40 books and novellas. I think it kind of shows that it wasn't originally thought to be written further. In this one it has the feel of a slight shift in the writing and relationship build, trying to find the footing to keep things going.

It did take me a bit to get into this one, once I did it had the feel of the first 3, interesting, pulls me in, didn't want to put it down. There are some sex scenes, but not every opportunity, giving some balance not only to the main love relationship, but balance for the book. The other relationships and characters are great and I can really picture the fun or fighting they each have. Makes things realistic and the dialogue is fitting and doesn't seem awkward even when it is on the cheesy side. The suspense and mystery parts keep me guessing and on the edge. As a reread I was picking out clues since I knew whodunit this time around, and finding this was well crafted.

I find the world Robb created in her In Death series fascinating. All those fun gadgets, the futuristic styles, cooking methods, a vocally interactive computer(!), the PPCs, the...the list just goes on. And Robb blends it so well into our own world that it feels perfectly normal. Gorgeous.
