This was a good story once you get past the idiocy of Lizzie in the beginning. It moves quickly and there are some very passionate moments. There are some really lovable characters and the ending was hilarious and heartwarming. It was great to see Nathan and Evelyn finally having their HEA and to even get to see more about Fiona, Jack’s sister. I am looking forward to the series finale and to finding out more about Christie. In the meantime just knowing that Lizzie and Jack finally found their own HEA will keep me happy. A great read and worth all the annoyance of dealing with a not very likable character until she grows up.

I had almost 20 hours on different airplanes as I flew to Vietnam. I knew that a good romance would keep my mind occupied and Julia London filled the bill nicely.
Jack Haines finds himself in a ridiculous situation. He is about to be married to a woman that he has never seen before. True the marriage will not have to last forever, but why is he in Scotland and not being part of society in London

After being falsely accused of having an affair with the Princess of Wales, Jack Haines, Earl of Lambourne, is forced to flee to his native Scotland. Enjoy being swept away to the Scottish Highlands with Julia London’s tale of an unlikely romance between a feisty Scottish lass and the charming rogue who is her match. Highland Scandal is a delightful romp filled with both spirit and heart that I could not put down.
Lizzie and Jack have a somewhat antagonistic relationship to begin with. Though understandable, this slowed the story down a bit in the beginning. Happily, Ms. London picked up the pace and made me absolutely adore Jack and Lizzie. Each has been backed into a corner by the actions and accusations of others, and I was rooting for them to not only make the best of their situation, but to find love with one another in it. A dash of intrigue added by Lizzie’s unscrupulous uncle kept me reading Highland Scandal late into the night, eager for the intrepid hero and heroine to figure out and overcome his schemes.
Fans of Ms. London’s will delight in once again seeing Jack’s sister Fiona (who, in the Snowy Night with a Stranger anthology, found love whilst searching for Jack). Also, though Highland Scandal stands on its own, the Earl of Lindsey of The Book of Scandal does appear, as do Jack’s other friends, including the Duke of Darlington who is the hero of Ms. London’s next Scandal book, A Courtesan’s Scandal. Not having read the first Scandal book, I can definitely say I will be ordering The Book of Scandal and am most eager to read the next Scandal tale. All in all I found Highland Scandal to be an engaging, satisfying read that brought warmth to my heart and put a smile on my face. Simply wonderful!

This book vastly improved towards the end. The hero being willing to give up his life for the heroine was probably what saved this book, though. The romanticism of that part could have possibly been played up a little more, although this may not have fit well with the rest of the book. The only real grievance I have about the latter part of the book is the phrase 'She wept with angels and her tears were drops of pure joy'. Seriously. I'm sure I've read books with even more dubious phrases, but this one somehow annoyed me, perhaps because the rest of the book is quite pragmatic in tone and this seems off. A good read, but probably not something I would read again.

Me encanto. Me gustó todo, los personajes, las intrigas, el romance por supuesto, con la justa medida de sexo. Y esta ambientada en Escocia! Amo todo lo que sea de ahi. Tal vez no soy muy objetiva, lo se.
I loved. I liked everything, the characters, the intrigues, the romance of course, with the right measure of sex. And it's set in Scotland! I love everything that comes from that place. Maybe I'm not very objective, I know.
