At the end of the day, these books are exactly what you think they would be. They have a well done formula they is followed for each one and they don’t miss on that. You have to like this GENRE - suspenseful romance with savior tropes galore. They’re short. They’re sweet. They’re well written. You know exactly what you’re getting when you pick one of these books up and it’s a beautiful thing.

This one started a little slower, but the process was still very enjoyable, and like always, with Susan Stoker, it finished with a bang! I love watching these big strong, capable men, turn to mush when they meet the right woman. I also love that the women aren't pushover's either. As all women do, they have an inner strength that gets them through some very difficult situations. Susan Stoker understand that about her characters, both the men and the women. Come on, you know we all want to find one of these guys and be one of these women.

Defending Harlow by Susan Stoker is the fourth book in her Mountain Mercenaries series.
I did love the book however I was a bit unsettled with Rex's lack of help but as you read you start to understand how hard it's been having his wife kidnapped.

Harlow Reese loves her job at the shelter especially helping the kids learn how to cook and work out their fears. But when local kids start harassing the women and Harlow she knows that "Black" Lockard could help as part of the Mountain Mercenaries. They used to know each other as teens in Kansas which will help them reconnect because some of her past dates were beyond awful. But when the threats escalate will Lowell and the rest of the Mercenaries be able to rescue Harlow?

Lowell "Black" Lockard has watched his friends find their women and settle down so of course he wants the same for himself. When Harlow calls asking for self defense lessons for the women and herself he jumps at a chance to see help her. But little does he know there's a much sinister person who will do anything to get what he wants so he steps up the harassment. First he has to convince Harlow that dating him won't be like her previous ones all while trying to keep her and the women safe.

Lowell is perfect!!!

I absolutely enjoyed every bit of Lowell and Harlow's story. It had a different vibe to it since these two knew each other in high school. Can't wait for Ball's story.

Dnf at 16 percent, tried so hard to like it because I've loved all the other books, but this one just wasn't grabbing my attention, not a fan of the Hero in this one

Liked it lots.

The more I read and listen to this series, the more I like it overall. I really liked the switch up that was written in Harlow and Black’s.m story.

Loved it

I loved that fact Harlow already knew Black. There wasn't a lot of awkward moments between them. Definitely lots of action. One of my new favorites.

I really enjoyed this one! I loved getting to know Black better and watching him get to know Harlow and build a relationship. This one stays in Colorado Springs as it is a women’s shelter that is under threat this time. I loved watching Black fate Harlow on the down-low since she has had such horrible dates and was totally put off on dating anymore. This story has more intrigue as they are trying to put the pieces together to figure out who is behind the harassment and threats. It was well written and engaging and I am excited for the next ones in the series.
The narrator did a good job with the story and the characters and adding that extra dynamic to help bring it alive.
