This book would have been 5 stars if it wasn’t for one person. Alex. I despised Alex, not a fan.

It's a good thing Rick Riordan stepped aside from writing mythology middle grades because he just can't anymore

The year is 2018 (or 2017 time is fuzzy) and a small, insecure 8th grader has one main passion in life. Rick Rioradan’s books. This child sees advertised at his local bookstore that RICK freaking RIORADAN is coming to his city! A place that doesn’t get many visits from famous authors. The tickets are secured by his dad and the date is confirmed. That evening the duo gets five guys burgers and then goes to the event. I will always remember that event as being a truly special time of my life. One where times were simpler, and Magnus Chase and the Ship of the Dead was my absolute most anticipated release. Anyways, this is a pointless review. What do I think of this book? The technical aspects? Does any of that really matter in the grand scheme of things. It makes me happy, and it made 8th grade me happy. Nostalgia is one of absolute strongest emotions.
