Really enjoyed all the fantastical side stories from this volume.
While it's obvious by this point that The Sandman is about the eclectic and dynamic cast of characters rather than Morpheus himself, I feel this volume deviates too much from the main story arc. Still, it's a great collection of stories, and I'm always a sucker for a retelling of the Orpheus myth.
Absolutely loved it! I loved the integration of past figures in the stories. Although the stories were short, I thought they were great at portraying popular stories with the fantastic Neil Gaiman touch. Ramadan was my favorite. I highly highly recommend it. Bummed I missed out on such a great series in the 90s! It's been an absolute pleasure getting to read it now.
Nekako mi se čini da je serijal o Sendmenu sve više i više zamršen. Sendmen 6: Skaske i promišljanja samo pokazuje koliko se priča o Gospodaru Snova proteže kako prostorno, tako i vremenski. A sva ta širina pokazuje koliko je Nil svestran kao pisac, jer toliko toga je u stanju da pokrije i utka u neke istorijske momente.
Ovaj tom je možda nešto konfuzniji od prethodnih, jer sam imao utisak da iz priče u priču skačemo iz sveta u svet. A opet, nekako mi je na kraju sve bilo dobro i ne bih ja tu ništa menjao. Posebno me je obradovao bonus na kraju toma – dve kratke priče o Strasti.
Kraja nema bez početka, a početak ovog toma donosi jednu od boljih i inspirativnijih (barem meni) priča. Dopada mi se to kako je opisan pad i koje mogućnosti postoje. Reklo bi se možda je strip samo jedna slikovnica i da nema tu šta bitno da se pročita, ali baš ovakve priče pokazuju koliko se mnogo dobra poruka može preneti.
Ovaj broj je još jedan od onih čije su me ilustracije i boje oduševile, posebno na određenim mestima. Zaista sam ostao više puta bez daha posmatrajući pojedine ilustracije. Sendmen je definitivno remek-delo u svakom mogućem smislu.

Really enjoyed this one-lots of characters from history
The storytelling in these novels is exquisite. I love everything about this story, from the way it weaves various mythologies and theologies to the disjointed timeline. Once I finish the whole series I'll have more to gush about.

I wished this one was a continuation of the series, but I did like it a lot despite being a bunch of stand alone stories.
Like any collection of stories some were great some were just okay. As a whole there were more stories I loved than ones I wasn't that into. My favorites stories were Ramadan and Orpheus. I really liked how Gaiman incorporated Dream into them. It certainly isn't my favorite installation of the series, but it is still well worth the read!

Άλλος ένας τόμος με short stories, τον οποίο και ξεκίνησα με επιφύλαξη αλλά τελικά μου άρεσε ακόμη περισσότερο από τον αντίστοιχο τρίτο!
Ουσιαστικά σε όλες τις ιστορίες πρωταγωνιστές είναι τα όνειρα και οι επιθυμίες των ανθρώπων που μπλέκονται με την πραγματικότητα και επηρεάζουν τις ζωές τους. Όλες οι ιστορίες μου άρεσαν αν και βρήκα τις August και Ramadan λιγάκι πιο φλύαρες από ότι θα ήθελα, ενώ η δεύτερη είχε και κάπως περίεργο σχέδιο, διαφορετικό από τις άλλες ιστορίες, το οποίο δεν μπορώ να πω ότι με ενθουσίασε.
Μου άρεσε επίσης ιδιαιτέρως αυτό το κάπως ασαφές τέλος που μπορεί να είχαν! Ήταν όνειρο ή συνέβη στ' αλήθεια; Ήταν απλά ένα παραμύθι ή πραγματικότητα;

as with ‘dream country’, this is a somewhat mixed collection of stories - these one-shot stories are often more satisfying on their own than a single chapter of the previous arcs would be, but in this collection especially you never really get gaiman and the artist working together quite as well as elsewhere. the story of orpeheus from the sandman special is pretty definitive, i think, and the stories about the emperor of san francisco and the french revolutionary terroe are well-written, but all of then have quite uninspiring art, except for the p craig russell issue that finishes the collection (which in turn is deeply orientalist...)
