Fourth in the Superhero Central romantic fantasy series revolving around different Protectors, all descendants of those whom we all thought were Greek gods.
The Story
Mordichai Black has openly returned to the side of the good and has been proving himself over and over but it's not until he is teamed up with Isabelle Frost to assess a pretty big fish for Re-Assimilation that he finally reintegrates in with humanity.
My Take
Cut and fluffy romantic look at beings with inherited superpowers. Kenner has a nice light, humorous touch poking fun at bureaucracy (I do love the memos she includes!) and humiliating the villains with a campy approach to their James-y Bond-y lives even as she creates a homey atmosphere.
The Cover
The cover very accurately reflects the cartoony quality of the story with its cherub of a superman aiming his flaming arrow. I'm not sure where the title arises from unless it refers to the love that flames up so quickly between Mordi and Izzy.

Cute story. I'm glad Mordi finally decided to be a good guy and turn against his father. He deserved his happily ever after. I thought it was super poetic that H-man was not only foiled at the end, but that all of his powers are now gone and he is what he hates, mortal! It was a nice wrap up to the series. Everyone if married and happy and the family has finally learned to trust and love each other. It was a sweet sentiment and sweet story.

Mordichai Black spent the first three books of the series trying to help bring his father, Hieronymous, to justice. His father never appreciated Mordi because his son is a halfling (half Protector, half mortal). But Mordichai helped because Hieronymous is truly evil and basically wants to enslave the mortal race. So, Mordi's kind of shocked to find out that his father has been accepted to the re-assimilation program.
Isole Frost is a counselor for the High Council. She is also the niece of the most powerful in the Inner Circle of Elders and some people think that she's been riding on Zephron's coattails. For years, Izzy has been trying to prove that it is her powers of empathy that have gotten her to where she is, not her family connections.
They are assigned to work together not only on working to see if Hieronymous has truly repented but also to work on the latest mortal treaty.
Suspend disbelief, think that this is going to be a light, fun story and it is pretty enjoyable.

Mordi is getting a reputation for being a dedicated hunter of bad guys, trying to prove himself as being free of his father, the worlds most super villain. He and Isole are called to assess his father's honesty about wanting to turn a a new leaf. There are plots within plots and plans within plans and it will take the two of them to work together, but can they trust each other long enough to save the day and to solve the puzzle? What are they going to do about the growing attraction?
It's a chick-lit romance novel and there are some very predictable moments here, nothing serious, a park-your-brain read.
