The books tries to do a lot of things at the same time, and as a result balls get dropped quite a bit which gives the story a jumpy quality. Mercy still reads younger than she actually is, which is particularly uncomfortable given her pregnancy, and her motivations in her relationships are unclear to the point of whiplash sometimes. It just didn't come together for me.

Another good read, has me getting right on to the third one without pausing.

This was a fun book. I enjoy seeing Mercy come into her own, and I loved her relationship with Jilo. My one reservation with this is I really don't like Peter. He just rubs me the wrong way.

I know, I didn't like the first one but I read this one anyway. I don't know what happened, but I've started the third one, also. I guess sometimes you just need some crappy magic/romance/drama in your life. Plus, it's on kindle unlimited.

Pretty good. There are a bunch of twists and turns in the plot so you kind of have to pay attention. Not your typical fluff.
