3.5 it was really good but a big complaint of mine was that it didn't really go with the story with the first book and the tv show(not saying it has to but it would be nice and to me better experience if It had). Overall, it was good and I really like this world I mean I don't want it to happen ever, but I find it interesting.

Always love reading Atwood. I had to binge watch Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale since I hadn't read the book for a few decades and needed some brushing up on the terminology. I enjoyed The Testaments' approach of multiple lenses on Gilead and the filling in of Aunt Lydia's backstory. I sometimes found the plot convoluted and far fetched, but Atwood is such a capable guide that I just decided to trust her to get me there, and the result was good enough.

Why did I hear from so many people that this book was skippable and poorly crafted? I enjoyed it so much...

5/5 stars 415 pages this was equally as fantastic as the handmaids tale but also very different. in this one we follow three different voices, and there is much overlap with the original handmaids tale. some of our narrators were characters in the original text! i really enjoyed this and found it less distressing than the first one because the characters tones were different. the first book centered around trauma and existing in a constant state of trauma so it was really visceral and painful in an intimate way but this one was more informative and explorative! you learn more abt gilead
