It isn't fair that I can only give this book 5 stars. The other two books in the trilogy are tremendous fun, but War of Gods is truly something else and on a whole new level. I just finished it and I am not okay. I loved every second I spent on this trilogy, and this is a mammoth of an ending.

Unbeatable forces pounding on each other with no hope of an effect... then bang, one dies with no real buildup or legitimate explanation of how they were overcome. Just this time the claws pierced skin. Think poorly done superhero’s with no real moral compass.

Half the book is the final battle. But it’s a series of sequential one on one fights with everyone else looking on. Then the thing they have been saying is impossible the whole time? Completely doable with relatively zero cost. Then, we win!

Lame. Very very lame. Almost went two stars (disliked) but left it at three (it was OK) because some of the characters have more than a single dimension and/or are funny.

All of the gods, demons, heroes, and villains are real, and they're at war. Dyrk Ashton deftly weaves multiple mythologies together into an innovative and epic series. Highly recommended. Fans of the Dresden Files, American Gods, and other such series should check this out. You won't be disappointed.

An incredibly epic end to a great series. If you have any interest in myth (literally any of them, they’re all here) you should read this series.

What can I say? This book exceeded ALL my expectations. I received a free ARC in exchange for an honest review and this one kept me up way past my bedtime trying to get thru just one more chapter.
I re-read the series from the beginning and will come back to it again and again. It was just such. a. good. story.
Mr Ashton did a masterful job interweaving mythologies from multiple cultures into the story along with a enough magic (and science) to satisfy me. I cannot wait to get the finished book and will definitely buy the audio as well. Run, don't walk when this one is released.

What a wild roller coaster of a finale. I am always afraid of longer trilogies failing to stick the landing but that is not an issue with Ashton.

The big throw down is coming and its just time to round up all the forces for the first 2/3s of the book. In this time is plenty of character growth for Zeke and Fi. I love the direction these two took throughout the book, especially Zeke. We continue to get more gods from history and finally get Peters origins which I got quite the kick out of. Baphomet was an interesting wild card this entire time, but his story line delivered in the end.

The final battle was one of the craziest things I have ever read and I had sooooo much fun. There are heart wrenching deaths galore and some of my favorites didn't make it. Even beyond the final battle it wasn't over until the very last word. 5 very fun and imaginative stars.

War of Gods was just a fantastically satisfying conclusion to the Paternus Trilogy and delivers on the promised epic finale. This huge 700-page book dedicates it’s last 300 pages to the glorious final battle. Every single character has a role to play, and everything that’s been set up comes to fruition.

I’ve said the first two books were action-packed, but Dyrk Ashton somehow ramps that up even further. I have not read such a large sprawling battle scene since The Final Battle in A Memory of Light which Brandon Sanderson so brilliantly executed. In other terms (especially for those who have yet to read The Wheel of Time), think that huge final action sequence in Avengers: Endgame, but even bigger. And don’t fret that it would be confusing with so much going on because everything was so well-choreographed and thought through by Dyrk Ashton in all its devastating glory.

And I was also finally able to feel attachments to the characters (and went beyond just Fe and Zeke) because boy did this book mess me up. I was already tearing up from the very beginning as the characters were still reeling from the aftermath of the previous book. By the time I reached the ending, I was consistently wiping away tears. This was just so gratifying that I was left kind of emotionally exhausted too.

War of Gods delivers a conclusion so epic and good that this has brought the Paternus Trilogy into must-read territory. I am so happy I supported the Kickstarter for the hardcover set.

Fantastic book! The premise of all the gods of mythology being real and alive was really well done. Excellent and satisfying ending to an all around great trilogy. . I can’t wait to see what Dyrk comes out with next. I can’t recommend this series enough.
