I loved it. A great gothic spookstory. Not a ghost story as such, but certainly a little spooky in parts. A much-needed change from the style and story she used for both Dark Matter and Thin Air, which were essentially the same book. Wakenhyrst is different, and to my mind, has more to it. Won't change your life but it'll be a fun, easy read, and for that I'm giving it the Bex seal of approval and a whole 5 stars.

A dark, sad tale that tackles themes of superstition, folklore, religion, and loss. Wakenhyrst haunts long after it has been put down. So much of this book is setting up for the final act, but the emotional gut punches when the truth is revealed will last and linger. Do yourself a favour and dive into the Fens.
