These five stories are very diverse. They feature a nice mixture of character pairings - people who read both these short story collections and the full-length novels will relish the opportunity to see character pairings that you won’t see in the main books, as well chances to see the lesser utilised society members, for example in this collection, twins Bernice and Brenda Kershaw.
There is also a nice departure from the usual way these stories work in one story when a prospective employer of the society does not appreciate them not wanting to take on his case and becomes violent. There are a couple of nice twists as well that are perfectly in keeping with the society characters involved.
So, ultimately this is a great little set of short mysteries that enhance the overall universe the full novels are set in as well as being interesting tales in their own right.
