This Heyer title is one of the older-man-naive-young-woman stories.

A typical Heyer, very similar to Sprig Muslin. Lots of fun, though.

Nice, clean regency where 2 lifelong friends finally realize that they are in love with each other. The different happening in the story is centered around a young, rather silly but loveable girl who is alone and destitute. But, of course, there is a happy ending for all in this very well done regency.

The same deal as The Foundling.

Boring and unmemorable. This reminded me of Sprig Muslin, which I didn’t like either

Light gothic romance fiction, among my Mom's favorites. Considerably better than the average gothic romance. Some of them are more like historical fiction, such as Simon the Coldheart. I read them from time to time when I was growing up.

A typical Heyer. A mix of fun characters, amazing language and period details and just an enjoyable book that leaves you feeling happy. With sentences and words like this scattered throughout it is a delight.

‘You’re a skitterbrain, sir! A slibberslabber here-and-thereian, with no more thought for what you owe your name than some rubbishing commoner!’

Fun.

I wish I could give half stars -- I think this is a solid 2.5, mostly because the characters spend the majority of the book running around in circles, which quickly became repetitive. There's not really enough plot to sustain the length of the novel, which leads to a great deal of rehashing the same information over and over between different parties. But I enjoyed the heroine quite a bit, and the hero was certainly a gentleman.
