I enjoyed the history and setting, but the pace was way too slow for me. I did finish it, but don't plan to look for the rest of the series.

2 Stars. This book just fell flat for me. I did not feel attached to any of the characters and at times was simply annoyed by them. I thought that Fellows did well to blend fact with fiction as the story flowed seamlessly. However, I am not sure that the central murder and the Mitford sisters being based on real people/events actually added anything to the book. The murder investigation aspect of the story took a long time to take off, but I thought that Fellows used this to effectively flesh out the world. The mystery itself felt lacklustre and the final resolution didn’t feel satisfying. Louisa was an okay main character, but nothing more than that. Overall, the book was well written and the idea of behind it is interesting, however, it did not hit the mark and I don’t think I will be picking up the following books in this series.
